THE NEW HILTON HOTEL ... IN MONGOLIA

Does the Mongolian desert needs a fancy Hilton hotel!?
My first answer would be no ...



... but then on a second though, if one day I wake up and decide to go to Mongolia ... that can happen (after a night of heavy drinking ... don't take it personal mongolian people, I am sure it is beautiful there) I would be the first one to look if there is a contemporary hotel for me to stay and recover from what brought me there.

VMX Architects designed a contemporary international hotel for the city of Ordos [Google Map It] The urban plan dictates a maximum height of only 3 storeys. So they came up with the idea of a round building! Taking maximum advantage of the view in every direction.



From above, the hotel appears as a flower (that is if you can fly I guess or play on google earth and use a good dose imagination, maybe I need to see some more flowers!

PARIS COMES TO SHANGAI ...

Paris is getting its final red touch ... and we're not talking about the glamourous Moulin Rouge voulez-vous-choucher-avec-moi touch, but more of a communist one !!!

A Chinese developer has brought the delights of Paris to a housing estate to Tianducheng on the outskirts of Shanghai, including the world's second-largest replica of the Eiffel Tower 108 metres (354 feet) high, but also a brand new Arc de Triomphe and rows of European-style villas to attract China's newly wealthy. Only 2,000 people currently reside in the new paris but it can house up to 100,000 people.

Italian, English and German towns are also reportedly under construction. I just would have one thing to say ... leave Europe where it is !!! That's how we like it.

GREEN GIANT THE WIND OF CHANGE ...

He is super tall, extra green but won't forced you to finish your peas ... today we're talking about a new kind of Green Giant, The Pearl River Tower, actually under construction in Guangzhou, China at the junction of Jinsui Road/Zhujiang Avenue West (now it's really clear for you right !!?) The lead architect is Gordon Gill. It will be 303 metres (994 feet) tall with 69 floors and a total floor area of 212,165 m². construction started in 2006 and completion is planned for 2009.

The building is being designed with energy conservation in mind, including wind turbines (allowing wind to pass through the building instead of pressing against it) and solar, humidity and rainwater collectors and arguably will be one of the most environmentally friendly buildings in the world. It is intended for office use and will be occupied by the China National Tobacco Corporation (Tobacco ... talk about green environment) it is intended that the systems will generate more energy than operation of the building will use.
